About

 

Alango ListenThrough™ is a “smart algorithm” for headphones and earbuds; complementing music playback with environmental alertness. Environmental ambient sounds are mixed into the A2DP music stream, thus allowing the user to be aware of their surroundings even when using closed headphones and/or listening to loud music.

The algorithm suppresses background noise while passing through sound-events such as an alarm, horn, train, or talker that exceed the preset background noise level. This is achieved with low latency and without content analysis of the environmental sounds.

The Intelligent Mixer ensures that sound-events are mixed at a suitable level for the user according to the respective levels of the music and sound-event signals. Acoustic feedback technology is implemented since the sound-events are amplified by as much as 30dB during loud music playback.

 
 

 

         
  Acoustic Feedback Suppression (AFC)  

Eliminates feedback loop between the transducers and microphones.

 
  Noise Suppressor (NS)  

Automatically detects and attenuates stationary and transient noises.

 
  ListenThrough™  

A “smart algorithm” for headphones that allows important environmental sounds (alarm, car horn, train, etc.) to be passed through so that the user can listen to their music and and also remain aware of their environment.

 
  Frequency Equalizer (EQ)  

Allows adjustment of microphone frequency response with high frequency resolution.

 
  Intelligent Mixer  

The Intelligent Mixer receives a stereo audio signal and the signal from the ListenThrough block and mixes them according to to respective amplitudes ensuring that important environmental sounds are not too loud while not masked by loud music.

 
           

 

 

 

Integration

 

ListenThrough™ can be integrated with other Alango Technologies, including SonicVibrance and AVQ-Me. An integrated block diagram of Alango’s Audio Enhancement Package is shown below.  This is an ideal solution for portable audio devices.
